Preparation

The Setup Phase is the bridge between initial planning and full-scale platform deployment. It ensures your operational environment is fully prepared, all configurations are tested, and your key data is verified, minimizing surprises during migration and go-live. By validating your setup early, you ensure your EV charging management system is scalable, compliant, and ready for live operations.

Primary Goals

  • Validate site, user, and API configurations

  • Ensure critical data is correctly formatted and complete

  • Finalize pricing and business logic

  • Lay a solid foundation for migration and testing in production

These steps reduce the risk of downtime and ensure your EV charging network launches smoothly and efficiently.

Setup Checklist

1. Test Different Site Structures

  • Create and experiment with varied site hierarchies (e.g., per location, per customer, or per region)

  • Ensure they align with your access control, billing, and reporting needs
👉 Consider future scalability and Sub-CPO requirements

2. Test User Roles & Permissions

  • Define user types: Admin, Site Manager, Operator

  • Test role-based access controls

  • Verify visibility and restrictions across different sites
👉 Use test accounts to simulate real-world scenarios

3. Validate API Structures and Solutions

  • Configure and test your planned API integrations

    • ERP/CRM syncs

    • Push API (if applicable)

    • OCPI endpoints

  • Confirm API responses align with your internal systems
👉 Use Postman or similar tools for endpoint simulation

4. Prepare Driver Data

  • Clean and format your driver records

  • Include relevant metadata (e.g., name, RFID, contact details)

  • Validate structure against eMabler import format
👉 Ensure GDPR compliance where applicable

5. Verify Token Data

  • Confirm RFID tokens are:

    • Unique

    • Assigned to drivers (if applicable)

    • Correctly categorized (test, operational, etc.)

  • Clean up duplicates and legacy test tokens

6. Finalize Site Data

  • Review and enrich site metadata: name, ID, address, type, etc.

  • Ensure chargers are properly mapped

  • Validate for reporting and UI consistency
    👉 See: Site Configuration Guidelines

7. Define Pricing Strategy

  • Choose between:

    • Centralized pricing (by CPO)

    • Site-level customization (per Site Owner)

  • Test time-based and kWh-based tariffs if applicable

  • Configure fallback pricing for roaming/OCPI usage
👉 Align pricing with your customer-facing policies
