Charger Socket States

The eMabler platform defines various socket states to describe the real-time condition and behavior of a charging station. These states help operators and users understand the charging process and diagnose issues effectively. Below is a breakdown of each state:

State Descriptions

State

Description

Available

The charger socket is idle and ready for use. No vehicle is connected, and the unit is fully operational and online.

Preparing

A vehicle is connected to the socket, but authorization has not been completed. Charging has not yet begun.

Charging

Active energy transfer is in progress. The vehicle is receiving charge.

Suspended (CHARGER)

The charger has temporarily paused charging, often due to load management (e.g., current falls below 6A). Charging can resume automatically when conditions allow.

Suspended (CAR)

The vehicle has paused the charging process (e.g., due to a full battery or a scheduled delay). The connection remains active, and charging may resume later.

Finishing

The charging session has ended (e.g., remotely stopped), but the vehicle is still connected to the charger.

Reserved

The socket is reserved for a future session. If charging does not start within a specified time (typically 15–30 minutes), the reservation is cleared automatically.

Booting

The charger is starting up. This is a system-generated transitional state.

Error

A fault has occurred at the charger, preventing normal operation.

Offline

The charger has lost connectivity to the backend. No operations are possible during this state.

Unavailable

The socket is intentionally disabled (e.g., for maintenance). Charging cannot be initiated.

Info

Informational state—not an actual status the socket stays in, but used for reporting diagnostic or status messages.

Charger Socket State Flow

The diagram visually represents how the charger transitions between states depending on vehicle actions, user commands, or backend control. For instance:

  • A charger moves from Available → Preparing → Charging when a vehicle plugs in and authentication succeeds.

  • During a charging session, it may temporarily go into SuspendedCHARGER or SuspendedCAR, depending on the situation.

  • After charging ends, it may enter Finishing until the cable is unplugged.

  • At any point, external events (errors, disconnections, reservations) may lead to states like Error, Offline, or Reserved.
