Charger Event Troubleshooting Guide
Troubleshooting charger behavior is easiest when you analyze the event logs associated with the charger. These logs provide valuable insights into status changes, communication issues, and potential causes of charging disruptions.
Step-by-Step: How to Access Charger Events
Navigate to the Charger
Go to the Sites section and locate the specific charger you're interested in (e.g.,
DefaPower 29502910M
).Click on the charger to open its detailed view.
Open the "Events" Tab
Click the Events tab at the top of the charger view.
This shows all recent activity logs such as status changes, communication messages, and errors.
Use Time and Socket Filters (Optional but Recommended)
Use the Timestamp filter to select a relevant date range. You can select:
Last 7 days
Last 30 days
Custom start and end dates
Filter by Socket to narrow the events to a specific charging socket.
Refresh the Log
Click the Refresh button (🔄) to make sure you're seeing the latest data.
Customize Columns (Optional)
Click the Settings gear icon and select the columns you want to see (e.g., Timestamp, Status, Type, Error, etc.).
This helps tailor the view depending on the issue you're investigating.
Common Issue: Charger Toggling Between "Offline" and "Online"
Symptom
The charger status alternates rapidly between Offline
and Available
or Connected
.
Likely Cause
Unstable network connectivity. Most commonly this happens when:
The charger is connected via a cellular modem, and
The installation site has poor signal quality or frequent network drops.
Potential Impacts
Interrupted WebSocket connections (see logs:
WebSocket Connection Interrupted
)Failed charging session starts or data synchronization errors
Lost communication with the backend platform
Resolution Steps
Check physical network conditions:
If cellular, try repositioning the antenna or switching providers.
If possible, use a wired Ethernet connection for more stability.
Investigate router/modem uptime logs to identify drops.
Review signal quality and RSSI metrics if available from the modem.
Tips
Use the "Information" and "Error" columns in the event logs to understand exactly what the charger is doing at each point in time:
"WebSocket Connection Opened" = charger successfully connected to eMabler.
"WebSocket Connection Interrupted" = communication was lost.
ConnectorId events help pinpoint activity per socket.
If you're still facing issues after confirming the above, consider exporting the event logs and contacting support with a detailed timeline.
